What Is Prayer?
Prayer is communicating, talking and listening to God.
Prayer is not a form of meditation but a connection
of our soul with God as we speak to our creator.
In prayer we seek God as we believe in Him by faith.
God wants to have a personal relationship with us.
God wants to hear and answer our prayers.
Prayer can be out loud or silent, formal or informal.
We can cry out to heaven and pour out our soul
before the Lord as we draw close to Him.
Nehemiah 1:11
O Lord, please hear my prayer!
1 Samuel 1:15

* Keep in mind there are more things we should pray for, not only these.
Why should I pray?
We should pray to have an intimate relationship with God. We also pray to receive spiritual nurture, spiritual strength, wisdom and guidance to live a good Christian life as we develop a closer, more intimate relationship with God.
We ALSO should pray because Our Lord Jesus told us to pray.
What does the bible teach on Prayer?
We are to pray with all our heart (Jeremiah 29:13) offered with humbleness (2 Chronicles 7:14).
We are to pray with FAITH (Mark 11:24),
righteousness, obedience (1 John 3:22) but also with respect and Godly fear (Proverbs 1:7).
We are to pray persistently and can also be specific with our needs. Once we pray we are not to worry about it anymore as we have put our needs in God's hands, but don't stop praying about it.
Luke 18:1
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.
James 4:2
Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask
God for it.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Scriptures tell us how people prayed but there is no
specific way indicated.

(Gen. 24:26, 52; Ex. 4:31; 12:27; Matt. 26:39; Mark 14:35)

Standing
(1 Sam. 1:26; 1 Kings 8:14, 55; 2 Chr. 20:9; Mark 11:25; Luke 18:11, 13)
When we pray we are to pray in the Spirit at all times, ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to pray. When we don't know how to pray, the Holy Spirit will guide us . . . keep in mind that Our Father, already knows what we need before we ask Him.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Should I Pray Alone or with Others?
We should pray alone in secret but we should also pray with other believers.

How Should I Pray?

After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say,
Our Father which art in heaven,

for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.

In that day you will not question Me about anything Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
A model prayer is really the way we should pray. We are not to pray by repeating words again and again but Jesus gave us a pattern or a model in Matthew 6:9-13. You can use these acrostics to capture how we should pray.
